35mm film, woven into your wedding day.
A little nostalgic. A little imperfect. Very much of the moment.
I love the way photographs taken on film feel. There is a softness and depth to them that is difficult to recreate digitally, along with the little variations in colour, grain and light that make each frame feel individual.
Alongside photographing your wedding digitally, I can bring my 35mm camera along too, using it throughout the day when something catches my eye. It is a lovely way to add another dimension to your gallery, with photographs that have a more tactile, nostalgic feel.

Why add 35mm film?
Film isn't a replacement for digital photography. I love having both.
Digital allows me to photograph your day as it unfolds, from those big moments, to the people, details, and all the things happening around them. With my film camera, I tend to be more selective. I might reach for it when the light falls just right, when I notice a beautiful detail, or when a quiet moment feels worth holding onto.
The two formats work really naturally together. You get the full story of your day, with a collection of film photography woven through it.

What does 35mm film actually look like?
There isn't one single 'film look', which is part of the appeal!
Film has a softness and natural grain that gives photographs a different feel, with subtle variations in colour, light and texture from one frame to the next. It isn't as predictable as digital, and I don't think it should be.
Those little imperfections are what give film its personality. No two frames are quite the same, and there is something lovely about knowing that these photographs could only have been made in that particular moment.

So, how does it work?
I'll photograph your day on digital as normal, while carrying my film camera alongside me and reaching for it throughout the day when something catches my eye.
Once the film is finished, it is professionally developed and scanned, and your photographs are delivered digitally alongside your main gallery.
There is a little more unpredictability with film. I can't promise exactly which frames will make it back from the lab, and you may notice some variation in grain, softness or colour. That's simply part of photographing on film, and one of the things I love about it.

FAQs
Can you shoot both digital and 35mm film?
Absolutely. Your wedding will still be photographed fully on digital, with 35mm film added throughout the day. I love the way the two formats complement each other, giving you the best of both.

How much does 35mm film cost?
35mm film is an optional addition to any of my wedding photography collections. It is £75 per roll, with each roll containing approximately 36 exposures.

How many film photographs will I receive?
Each roll contains around 36 exposures, although the final number of usable photographs will vary. Film is less predictable than digital, so I don't like to promise an exact number of finished images.

What happens if a roll of film is damaged or can't be developed?
Film is a physical medium, so there is always a small possibility that a roll could be damaged or become unusable during development. Thankfully, this is rare. If a roll cannot be developed successfully, I'll refund the full cost of that roll.

How will I receive my film photographs?
Your film photographs will be delivered digitally in a separate folder within your wedding gallery. I love keeping them together so you can look back through the day as a little collection of analogue photographs, alongside your main digital gallery.
